Jezzie's Surgery

Earlier last month, I found a large lump on Jez's chest, and the vet recommended that we go ahead and remove it to be on the safe side. He actually wasn't feeling optimistic about it, because he said if it was a fatty tumor, it would move around inside the body, but this one was firmly attached. For a week before the surgery, I was feeling really down, as it's hard to imagine our family with Jez in it. I know she is almost 10 years old, but she still seems like a pup in my mind!

I am extremely lucky to have a wonderful vet and two friends at the animal hospital that I worked with in high school. They took wonderful care of Jez when I couldn't be there for her. Four vet trips later, Jez is as good as new, and we did confirm it was just a fatty tumor! Finally, some good news around here!

Here are some pictures of her wearing a t-shirt after she got her drain tube out from her surgery. The vet recommended she wear a snug t-shirt to prevent anything getting on our furniture, carpet, etc. I found the shirt Andrew wore from the ALS walk, which was meant for a 10 year old. Everything was adorable until I found out 2 days later that her armpit was almost completely rubbed raw from the shirt. Terrible dog mom! We are just glad she is okay and back to her usual self (rambunctious). The bald spot on her leg is where they shaved her to put the IV in.

Sesame Street Live

A couple of weeks ago, Andrew got to see his first live show. :) Emily's mom, Kathie, graciously gave Andrew and I tickets to see Sesame Street Live with her, Emily, Emily's sister, Emily's cousin, and her sister's and cousin's kids. Andrew thought we were going to the movies on the way there and from the back seat of the car he said, "Mom, this is going to be awesome."

Here is his sweet little face when the whole gang came on the stage for the first song:

They put on a good show. :) Believe it or not, his favorite character was the count.

He picked out some Elmo binoculars. He looked so cute watching the show through the binoculars, like he was at a big time concert.

Andrew's Third Birthday

Two weekends ago, we had a birthday party for Andrew at Monkey Joe's. This year, he was able to tell us which friends he wanted to invite and where he wanted to have at his party. I think he was a little overwhelmed ( I don't think he spoke one word the whole party), but later told us multiple times that he wanted to have another party there. He must have had a good time! He picked Angry Birds for his party theme, which seemed more appropriate for a 6 year old, but he was adamant on his choice!

On his real birthday, he brought peanut butter cookies to daycare to share with his friends. When he got home, he opened up his cards and gifts from family members. He was really liking these stickers from Grandma Kay!

His gift from Grandma Kay...a scooter he saw at a toy store there when we went to visit!

Gifts from his good ol' mom and dad...

...and a lovely pizza dinner with candles. :)
