Back to Work!

Looks like I'm going back to work! Some jobs opened up again at the University of Phoenix since the layoffs, and I applied for a Full-Time Faculty Member position. I interviewed the first week of September, and I found out I got the job earlier this week. I know many of the people in the department still, so I'm excited to be back. The job is also a telecommuting position, so I that will work out really well as far as taking and picking Andrew up from preschool. I will be teaching up to 4 online classes continually. Plus, it just so happens that the daycare I love in the neighborhood has one opening for a child 36 months and up. He will be going back there a few days a week while I work, which I'm sure he won't be happy about. The more time with me, the happier he is. :) I am so glad we had the time we did together, but something about working makes me feel like I'm contributing to society. The days were starting to get long, as I think we have done everything in town at least twice! My first day back is Monday, September 29th. I'm so happy!

Star of the Week

This week, Andrew was the Star of the Week in his class. I helped him with a poster with his favorite pics and filled out a form with his favorites on it. He also got to bring something for show and tell (a mitt and baseball). This week has been the only time that he cried when I dropped him off (both days). He didn't want to present his poster or do show and tell. He wanted me to stay and do it for him. This sounds a lot like me and still does to this day. I don't like to talk in front of a lot of people. I felt so bad for him, but I talked to his teacher, and she reassured him that she would do all the talking. When I picked him off, she said once she started talking about the things he loved, he got really excited and started sharing information.

I also volunteered in his class last week, which was really nice, because I like knowing all the kids and their names. I got to measure and weight all the kids, so we can see how much they grow throughout the year. I also put his first Scholastic book order in, which was super exciting for me. :) Andrew says his favorite part of school is playing in the sandbox and riding the bikes.

I wanted to get a pic of him with his show and tell stuff, but he kept yelling that he had to pee (as you can see). HAHA

Red Flash Soccer Team

Andrew started on his first real soccer team last week. The last two years he did Raptor Tots, where they spent more time chasing bubbles and balloons than playing any actual soccer! It was a little tough to find shin guards in his size, but everything worked out. We found him a class for 3 and 4 year olds. Right now they are just practicing basic soccer skills. Of course the first day was 40 degrees in the morning! He wore his hat and mittens, but loved every minute of it.

Today it was in the 70's and picture day for the team, so things were much easier!
