Andrew-10 Month Update

Oh, how my little baby is growing! He is barely a baby anymore and is turning more into a toddler every day! Over the last week, he started standing on his own without support and can stand up straight from the ground without using anything to pull himself up.While I am certainly happy that he is growing the way he should be, I still can't help but feel a little bit of sadness.

 

 

He is still as curious as ever, and some of his favorite things are door jams, cords, and the fake tree we have by the front door.

He even got 2 teeth in on the bottom this week, which has made him a little fussy from time to time, but he is generally in a great mood. 

 

While he has been much more easy going lately, he still has his stubborn streak...

One of my favorite things that he does right now is waves bye to people. Mike and I will also say a really long "yea", and he will say it with us. In the afternoons, Andrew and I throw the frisbee for the dog and say "yea" together every time she brings it back. 

Over the last week or so, he decided that he prefers table food to baby food, which has stressed me out a little bit. I want him to still get plenty of vegetables and fruits, but I think more than half of what I put on his tray is in his lap.

We have also been getting ready for fall around the house. I put some orange lights on the fake tree by the door (his favorite tree) and a few other decorations up. We broke out the skeleton pajamas this week, so he can get some use out of them before Halloween is over. 

This one is a little blurry, but I just love it so much.

His sleeping has also been so much better these last two months or so. He sleeps about 12 hours at night and takes 2 naps a day. We really struggled with the afternoon nap until a few weeks ago. I think that is why he is in such a good mood these days. I am in good mood, too. :) The first 6 months or so were really hard on me in terms of sleep.

We are just so happy with how he is coming along. He is so little, but strong. Some of his pants are still 3-6 months. We were laughing yesterday about how it looked like he was waiting for a flood, but they were still loose on his waist. I have a feeling the next monthly update I do, he will be walking. Where did the time go? :( 

Puppy Love

Andrew just loves his dog, Jez! So much so, that I decided to blog about it!






Nothing can make Andrew smile and laugh like Jez can. There isn't a day that goes by that he isn't laughing or smiling at Jez when she comes in the room. At least a few times a day, he crawls after her laughing when he sees her.

When she comes in in the morning, he gets this big grin on his face. If he is eating in his high chair, and she comes into the room, he will laugh. For months he didn't notice she existed, and now he just adores her!

The other day he saw Jez come in the room while he was in his bouncer, and he laughed for 5 minutes straight. I caught 2 of those minutes on tape. I just love his little laugh. :)

Arizona State-Illinois Game

It was an exciting weekend out (I even got to sleep in!) to Champaign for the ASU/Illinois game. Mike and I went with his brother, Jeff, and our two friends, Chad and Alexa. All 5 of us have lived in Arizona, so I think they were okay with either team winning. I, on the other hand, was rooting for ASU all the way. Things didn't really go ASU's way, but we still had a good time. The weather was perfect, and it was a comfortable temperature for both tailgating and game watching.

A Date with Baby Lily

This morning Andrew and I went over to see the Freeburg family, and Andrew got to meet Laura's baby, Lily, who is now 4 months old. While they hardly noticed each other, we think their love will grow over time. :) I believe Andrew may have his arm around Lily in the second picture.

Mike and I also went to a wedding yesterday for our friends, John and Cortney. They are just so great together, and I know they will have a long and happy life together!

Friday evening I stayed up until 2 AM watching the ASU game because they went into overtime. I don't know how much longer I can hang with this time difference! However, they won so it was worth it! :) Now back to the daily grind tomorrow....

Labor Day Weekend

What a beautiful Labor Day weekend! I can't get enough of the cool weather! Even though it went from 90 degrees to 60 over the last two days, I could not be more happy to say Fall is here! I'm not one for the humid weather, so I welcome to the cooler temperatures. Plus, I am thrilled that college football is back! I'm been waiting for the season to start since the last bowl game in January. :) ASU actually started their season Thursday night, and it was 104 degrees at kick-off. I was happy to be watching it on TV at 9:30, which is practically my bed time these days. I only made it through an hour or two and recorded the rest. This is the time of year that I am glad we live in Illinois again, because this was when the heat would really start to wear on you out there.  We had a good football weekend, as ASU, NIU, and Illinois won their first games.

Saturday we had to go on a mini shopping spree for Andrew, because we didn't know it was going to be this cool so quickly. He did not have any long sleeve shirts in his size. It was 55 degrees when we arrived at the annual Oberheim Labor Day Breakfast at the park this morning! Andrew had a bright red nose, and I think the poor little guy could have even used some mittens. He was wearing his one pair of socks again, because I didn't buy him any yet for Fall. Grandpa Siegrist bought him some cute airplane socks last month when he went to Oshkosh for the airshow. Without those socks, Andrew would have had some very cold feet this weekend. They are in the washing machine as I type this.

We got to see quite a bit of family these past few days, and I'm enjoying the time off from work. My grandparents came to town this weekend, along with my Uncle Paul. Friday evening they came over with my parents for a few hours, and on Saturday, Andrew and I went over to my parents' house for the afternoon.

Andrew had everybody laughing when he kept giggling at Tiki on the other side of the glass. He just loves dogs! He likes to crawl after Jez laughing at least a few times a day.

Outside of his love for dogs, is his "obsession" for Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. When he got crabby at my parents' house, he watched Mickey with Grandma on YouTube.

Here he is at Mike's parents' house watching Mickey while he eats dinner (he is not spolied at all). Grandma Marcia got in his way a few times. Watch out, Grandma! Mickey is on!

We had to leave for Andrew's morning nap, but it looks like we didn't make it in time...

So the weekend has come to a close, but I decided to take off Tuesday since Mike took the whole week off for vacation. I can't remember the last time we spent the day together alone, so I am really excited for tomorrow! We may even...drum roll, please.....see a movie! Movie dates are hard to come by these days.  However, it has all been worth it! I'm already dreading going back to the daily grind on Wednesday, but that's what makes the weekends and holidays so special. :)
