Thanksgiving Day

This makes me smile every time I watch it. :)

On Thursday we went over to Mike's parents' house for the day. We just did the one Thanksgiving meal this year, as my parents headed down south to see my mom's parents. Since Andrew goes to bed at 7:00 every night, and the dinner was at 5:00, we went over early in the afternoon so we could spend more than an hour and half over there. What ended up happening is Andrew didn't want to take his second nap, and it was turning a little bit ugly as 5:00 neared. Starting at 2:30 we walked him around the block, had Grandma Marcia rock him in the rocking chair, and drove him around, but nothing worked. A little after 5:00, I took him around the block again in his stroller, and he finally fell asleep. I was able to sit down and enjoy the delicious feast that Marcia had been preparing all day. We tried to give Andrew mashed potatoes before dinner started, but all he wanted was apple sauce and puffs. He didn't know what he was missing! :) Mmmm Mmmm!

Here are a few shots from earlier in the afternoon.

Drool King. :)
Grandpa John
Group Shot (It only took about 20 tries to get this one)
Andrew's Thanksgiving Feast (He would eat an entire can of these baby cheese puffs if we let him)

After waking up from his nap in the evening, he started in on an art project that kept him occupied for about 2.5 seconds. He kept walking over to cousin Mason's drawing, so I gave him one of his own. Things always look better when they are not yours.

I think one of my favorite moments from the evening is when Marcia tripped on Mason's fort that he built and knocked it over (that's not the funny part). Well, Sophie (who is 3) saw what had happened and ran out of the room to tell Mason. We were all at the table eating still when Sophie came in the room and approached Mason. Marcia and Molly are yelling after Sophie not to say anything. The room goes completely quiet and Sophie says, "Mason, I have something to tell you." She then proceeds to tell Mason that Grandma knocked over his fort, and Mason instantly starts crying. Right when he starts crying, Sophie turns around and walks away with her smile on her face. It was hilarious! Not for Mason, of course, but it was just one of those classic brother/sister moments.

Here is one of my favorite pictures from the night of Mike and the cousins. Trouble, indeed!

Happy Thanksgiving! I am just so blessed to have such wonderful friends and family in my life!
